Coretan - Recent Works by Yuniar

Executed primarily in acrylic and pencil, his works stand out in terms of texture, colour, brushwork, volume and rhythm. A Co organized by NUS Museum and Gajah Gallery, this exhibition presents the works of leading Indonesian artist, Yunizar. Coretan:RECENT WORKS is a series of 19 paintings in acrylic and pencil on canvas.

Coretan: RECENT WORKS

A critically acclaimed body of work, Yunizar’s Coretan: RECENT WORKS explores the limitations of language as a mode of communication in today’s technologically advanced world. Yunizar considers the power of text not just as a means of communication but also as aesthetic expression.

In an age where the written word has, ironically, more power than ever before, the artist addresses the core issue of human communication and more importantly, human understanding, through writing.

“When I work creatively, I always consider it fun. Art is playful and essential for mankind and for the enrichment and nourishment of our soul.” ~ Yunizar
