A one of a kind group exhibition, Angkor – the Djin Within brings together the thoughts and experiences of 10 eminent artists from Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. I Made Djirna, Mangu Putra, Pupuk Daru Purnomo, Putu Sutawijaya, Yunizar, Wayan Paramartha, Nguyen Trung, Nyoman Sukari, Zakii Anwar, and Adi Sutjipto recently went on a 3 day inspirational journey to enigmatic Cambodia. Their diverse languages, techniques and styles interplay to bring you works that illustrate the beauty and brilliance of the city that houses the mystical Angkor Wat, and with it, the myths and legends of a Cambodia from long ago. Silent Journey - A solo exhibition by Hong Viet Dung, 6 - 27 April 2006

Gajah Gallery is proud to present the much anticipated exhibition from one of Vietnam’s most sought-after contemporary artists, Hong Viet Dung. Painting since a young age, Hong Viet Dung’s inspiration comes from a deep awareness of Vietnamese spirituality. Quiet and subtle, his art is a sensitive portrayal of the soul of Vietnam and its people. The works are guided by Buddhist philosophy that suggests that the empty space surrounding an object is as important - and as active - as other aspects of the painting. As with Zen, ‘nothing’ attains meaning.
